The youngest of the islands in the Hauraki Gulf, Rangitoto emerged from the sea around 700 years ago in a series of volcanic explosions. The coastlines of Hauraki Gulf islands were once used as dumping grounds for obsolete ships. With rapid changes in technology, ships quickly became outdated and uneconomic to maintain.

MOTAT
I decided to go to MOTAT as my destination research , because it is located near Unitec and also i have never been there. The entry is free for people live in west and east Auckland. so we didn't to pay to get in. i have taken notice a lot of things that invented in the olden days by many well known people. i spent around 2 hours walking around the museum. MOTAT is a museum of transport and technology. The museum has large collections of civilian and military aircraft and other land transport vehicles. An ongoing programmed is in place to restore and conserve items in the collections. This work is largely managed by volunteers many of whom have been associated with MOTAT for upwards of four decades.
Before i went to go the museum , i had asked my two friend to come along. one of them knows quite well about it. He shown me around and explained each individual parts. The best thing among all the part is the place where they show how people invented the light and build the bridge. it was amazing and creative that how people had created those light.
In MOTAT, there are some safety rule to follows,
- watch for uneven ground as tram tracks.
- Beware of moving vehicles on MOTAT grounds.
- Parents and caregivers please watch your children at all times.
- Shoes must be worn at all times on ground
- Do not cross barrier cables where present
- No food or drink is permitted around artifacts or exhibitions.
In summaries, this place is a really unique place for all people ages , especailly it is good for gaining children education. They also provide tour for school trips with tour guide. i am highly recommence for people who likes to explore about technology and it is also a good opportunity to spend your weekend with your family at the place if you live in the West and East side. i really love this place!
My friend and i took a picture in front of MOTAT. The weather was freezing and overcasting , so it was hard for us to walk around the place.
This is the olden day bicycle, the first invented.
This is how they invented the light to change the photograph into different colors. they combine green, blue and red blend it together to the picture. this is the shadow of my hand. Creative!!!
i was so amazed about the light ball. once you touch it , the light comes through your fingers.... it works like magic... wow..... i couldn't even stop played with it .... :Dplease click here to listen the conversation between Marym and i
I interviewed with Marym as my classmate about her Auckland destination. She also went to Motat for her task 5 research. I asked her about what is the most interesting part that she enjoy the most in MOTAT. She went there with her family and her best friend. Our record is about 3 minutes. Please enjoy listen our conversation and leave comments if you have any wonder to ask. Thanks!
Phnom Penh, Cambodia
The Town Where I was Born
As we grow up, we are getting more and more familiar with our birth place, our culture, environment and the social interactions. The place you can release your stress, the place where people call fun, unforgettable memories, enjoyment and welcoming is called home town.
My home town where I was born and grew up till the age of 15 is called "Phnom Penh". It is the capital and the largest city of Cambodia. Even though it is not as large as other neighbour such as Thailand or Vietnam, but it is also known as political and economic city. It is located on the banks of Mekong river.
Looking back 33 years ago, Phnom Penh was in a critical condition. When the Khmer Rouge regime took over on the April 17,1975. During that time many people were forced to move out of the city. During the period of Khmer Rouge 3 years 8 months and 20 days, over 2 millions people seriously tortured and killed. History refers Phnom Penh as a " Ghost Town". No people occupied houses, no people walked on the street. But a while after, this regime was over on January 7 1979 where the all Khmer people (we call Khmer for citizenship in Cambodia) returned to their normal life. It is difficult to predict how the improvement has been made in Cambodia according to the nightmare history. But seeing Phnom Penh today we can tell that it has a bid change. It is such a beautiful, relaxing, and adventurous city for tourists from all over the world. There are a number of tall buildings, restaurants, shopping malls that are expanding day by day which is an economic centre, and counts for a large portion of the Cambodian economy. The main economy is based on property businesses. The real estates has been booming which is getting more expensive than the previous time.
The market sells electronics, meat, fish, clothing and agricultural products both foreign and home-made. You can get them at a very cheap price. The traditional market is called "Psar Tmey or central market" which is the first market that was built in 1987 during French colonisation.
If you are brave enough, you should try some of Cambodian strange and special street snacks or foods such as deep fried tarantulas, grilled snakes on a stick, hot and sour crocodile meat, turtle's soup and steam baby duck eggs. Most people in the prefer to hire Tuk Tuk , Cyclo or a motorbike as it is easier for them to go around and sightseeing. The most common and popular means of transportation in Cambodia is Tuk Tuk or Cyclo.
I moved to New Zealand from Phnom Penh 5 years ago, but I often visit my parents once a year. In conclusion what I miss the most about my home town is foods. And I also miss watching the sunrise over the temple and as you all know Cambodia is one of the 7th wonders of the world " Angkor Wat ". I think i have such a great country and I can proudly say I am so proud to be a Cambodian.
This is a picture of a steamed baby duck.

This here is one of the common vehicles in Cambodia called "Cyclo".
This is how they torture the people before they die in Khmer Rouge.

Hangover real life
Have you ever watch The Hangover movie ? Do you like this movie ? Do you think it will be happened in real life ? well! if you don't know what The Hangover movie is ? Here is the picture for you to have some idea of the story that i am going to talk about. It was happened to me on 25/05/2012 Friday nigh at my house.
First of all, i am going to tell the whole story about The Hangover movie in my real life. it is quite ridiculous and funny which always remind in my head . On that night my friends and I decided to have some drinks for the weekend night. A friend of us was broken heart, so we were drinking quite a lot of amount to make the time flies faster and avoided all the sadness in her mind. We had drunk with a lot of kinds of alcohol , such as beer, vodka, and liqueur mixed all together as i knew it was going to make us drunk fast. After we were chilling and drinking for a few hours, one of our friend offered us to go for roaming around the city and Mission Bay as he didn't drink, so we agreed and did not think twice jumping into the car with my pajama on.
I felt a sleep in the car during i was in Mission Bay. Because of my tipsiness had made slept all the way. This is the most funniest part of the story! when i woke up in the morning around 5 o'clock in the morning , i felt so awkward and weird that how come the place where i was not look like Auckland. Everyone were in their deep sleep, i wasn't want to wake them up. so I looked around and i was so shocked that i found my self in Rotorua. The most embarrassed things for me was i wore pyjama and we were parking the car just in front of Skyline, Rotorua. No matter how i tried to beg my friend to drive us back home , but he refused and told us just go with the flow. As a result , we were spending our morning tea in a cafe shop next to the lake Taupo. we also played three passed Luge. We came back Auckland around 3 o'clock in the afternoon.
Even though everyone was kept looking at us with our pyjama clothes but we really enjoyed the day that we had spent together. It was such a good memories and exotic experience, but yet i don't think i want to have this kind of story happen again.

Reflective Writing about this task
I really enjoyed while I was doing this task. Why did i enjoy it? because it gives me a lot of chances to speak, to talk and explore the place where i have not been before. Although some of the destination that I did not plain properly , I still used my rushing time to record all the activities that i have done and learnt.
I have put a lot effort to do this task. In order to make this task looks perfectly, I have asked my friend to accompanies with me to visit those destination. They guided me and explained the histories of the places. I have learnt a lot of new words from the destiny where I went to and enjoyed that days so much. I did not have chance to do the record the video , because none of them accept the recording. So i tried to get as much as information from the research.
In conclusion, not only did visited destination have benefit of enjoying the your day , but it also a part out door education which you can learn and feel the things around. Your knowledge will be improved according to your mood. As a proverb said " Work hard play hard".
